Phelps Gates: Burr earned award for sure

I noticed an ad from Sen. Richard Burr in the Oct. 23 N&O saying that he had won the “2016 Patient Access Award.” How does one win this award, and who gives it?

A little web search revealed that it’s given by the “Alliance for Patient Access,” a group described by the Wall Street Journal as “largely funded by the pharmaceutical industry.” Why am I not surprised?
