Fred Howes: We all have something in common

Regarding the Oct. 29 Point of View “We need to ‘create bonds, not differences’ ” by Sufyan Abdullah: This article by a Muslim is a very clear statement about civil rights for Muslims who come to this country as immigrants.

I support this belief that we are all brothers and sisters in this free land and see no need to discriminate or show suspicion about any ethnic group.

There has been much political rhetoric that we call our enemy “Islamic terrorists.” It is true a small minority has co-opted one of the world’s great religions for its own diabolical purposes. When many white men have committed terrorists acts in this country, we have not called them Christian terrorists. People who act in terror are not in agreement with Christian or Muslims beliefs.

Let’s stop this now and zero in on our commonalities rather than our differences.
