John C. Brooks: Burr not fit for public office

Regarding the Nov. 2 news article “Would blocking picks unleash constitutional confusion?”: Both Sens. Richard Burr and John McCain have now disqualified themselves for election to public office by their publicly repudiating the U.S. Constitution which they otherwise have taken an oath of office to uphold in the past. This is a most serious matter, not a political issue.

Their statements are most certainly impeachment grounds. Our nation’s legal system is not an institution with which to manipulate for political purposes. Those who think that it is must be shown the door.
