Susan Hester: Stunt vs. compassion
Regarding the Oct. 29 news article (“McCrory will ask for special session on storm recovery”: Why should Gov. Pat McCrory get any credit for calling a special session of the state legislature as storm response just a week before the election when Democrats in the state legislature called for a special session immediately after the storm – and McCrory refused!
Why does the Oct. 31 editorial “McCrory is right on storm special session” praising McCrory’s late call omit this significant fact? Democrats wanted to provide real immediate help. McCrory wants to appeal to people who have now been struggling for weeks. Political stunt versus real compassion.
