Louise Lockwood-Zorowski: Listen to protesting students
I was dismayed to read in the Oct. 29 news article “Protest by band met with anger” how angry people were that 19 members of the band took a knee when the national anthem was played at the ECU football game on Oct. 1. The vitriol expressed by people was unnerving.
May I suggest that those who are so upset by the actions of these students take a deep breath, step back and seek to understand the concerns of these students. Listen to what they have to say. Their concerns, their feelings are legitimate and real. They deserve to be listened to and to be taken seriously. May the troubled hearts of all be healed.
