Bruce Griset: Burr’s position is un-American

Sen. Richard Burr says that if his party wins the presidency and the Senate, then the new president will appoint a Supreme Court justice, and the Senate will confirm that Justice. Burr says that if the opposing party wins the presidency, but not the Senate, then he will do his utmost to see that no new justice is appointed and the seat remains vacant for four years.

Such a stance is unprecedented in America’s history, and is a complete and thorough undermining of the founders, and of the U.S. Constitution.

Call this what this is: It is un-American and undemocratic.

Add to this Burr’s support of a presidential candidate whose thin-skinned demeanor is clearly and overwhelmingly unsuited for making decisions that could include the launch of nuclear weapons. Add to this Burr’s recent joke about a gun magazine needing to put a bull’s-eye on the picture of the opposing party’s candidate for president.

Richard Burr is in possession of dangerously bad judgment. This is abundantly clear. North Carolina citizens need to remove him from office immediately.
