Raja G. Khalifah: Comey’s actions will be felt for many years

The breadth and depth of the collapse of the Hillary Clinton campaign for president can be largely, if not exclusively, attributed to the sole action of our misguided FBI director, James Comey.

Despite his good intentions, his complete lack of judgment torpedoed the chances for a historic Clinton presidency and caused serious damage to our democratic traditions.

All this may pale compared to the down-ballot domino effect it has caused, from Supreme Court composition to health insurance for millions to U.S. Senate control to local North Carolina politics. All these will be felt immediately and for generations to come.

Clinton ran an honorable campaign, and the FBI director owes it to the American public to resign immediately. Even a Russian mole in the FBI could not have caused more repercussions on our democracy.
