Kirk Polizzi: Salute veterans today

All of us today should take the time to reflect on how lucky we are to live in a country where brave men and women serve to insure our freedom.

Veterans Day is a day of reflection and a time to honor all those Americans who answered the call in the defense of our nation. Over the years many words have been written and spoken about our veterans.

Abraham Lincoln said, “they gave the last full measure of devotion”... FDR, “Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.”

To all of our great veterans, let all of us thank them today for preserving our freedom and for standing up for democracy here at home and abroad ... and for serving all of us unselfishly through peace, countless conflicts, and war ... and through American strength may we always keep the peace.

No nation, no people have been as caring, compassionate or liberating as the American serviceman and woman. We owe them our way of life.
