Frank Sieka: NRA wins again

Thank you North Carolinians for electing Donald Trump as president and Richard Burr as U.S. senator. We should now all feel much safer, especially since our Second Amendment rights are preserved for the next four years. Just think, everyone will be able to purchase an assault weapon without regard to mental stability, knowledge of handling weapons or criminal intent. And thankfully the NRA will not lose sales.

I have nothing personal against either of the above gentlemen other than this one issue. Both have pandered to irrational fears and benefited from the NRA.

So let’s sum up: We require people to get a license to drive, practice medicine, etc. We try to protect our children. But we have no rules for a owning a weapon that could take dozens of lives in a few seconds.

Are North Carolinians sad or just plain stupid and too lazy to demand more from these men? Using Trump’s vernacular I think we’re stupid. It’s nice to be able to say what you mean, it improves communication.
