Fred Atkins: Manipulative media failed

The Nov. 11 Catherine Rampell column “Americans have voted for Trumpism. Let them have it.” contained an amazing statement and admission. She blamed the election of Trump on herself and the media!

She twice identified herself as an “elite” and lamented that the election showed that, for the media, “reaching – let alone persuading – those undisposed to listen to and agree with us appears increasingly impossible.” Imagine that. An admission from the media that it has a biased agenda and thinks that its purpose is not to inform, but to persuade and to get the unwashed masses to agree with them and to vote as they instruct.

I only hope that she is correct and that opinion influencing, thought control and voter manipulation by the media truly is “increasingly impossible.”
