Leah Perry: Patriotic thoughts, actions

The election has come and gone and now we need to mend as a country. A friend said she’s never felt more patriotic than she does right now. Initially, I was surprised to hear that, but then I quickly understood.

My father is a veteran and has fought hard for for this country, my mother marched in Fayetteville against the KKK, my parents worked hard to make America a better place and so will I.

It is time for us to fight for everyone’s right to be here, for freedom of expression, unless it is causing others harm, for the right of health and safety.

I too am feeling more patriotic than ever. I am ready to fight for my country, as my parents did. I am ready to secure the liberties they worked so hard for us to have. I am ready.
