Pat Harms: No reason to question Boards of Elections
Right now there is an ongoing attempt to steal the election for governor and thwart the will of the citizens of North Carolina. Roy Cooper is the clear winner, but Gov. Pat McCrory and his Republican enablers are attempting to cast doubts by challenging the findings of the state’s county Boards of Election.
We are fortunate to have reliable county boards of election and there is no reason to challenge them. This action is in line with previous attempts by the legislature to undermine county authority and replace it with legislative control.
It is amazing how smart our legislators become once they win election. They immediately know more about education than teachers, more about the environment than scientists, more about the law than the courts, more about local affairs than the locals and certainly more about how the state should be governed than the people they serve.
Not satisfied with a majority in the legislature, they also want to determine the governorship and the makeup of the courts. Enough. Accept the work of our county election boards and the fact that Roy Cooper is the newly elected governor of North Carolina.
