Larry Reed: Zane ignored Trump’s travesties

J. Peder Zane’s Nov. 23 column “Democrats may be incapable of taking the high road” strained logic and credulity even further than he usually does. The column distorts facts and lacks any editorial standards.

He highlighted election statistics while ignoring that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by over two million votes. He ascribed intolerance and divisiveness to Democrats and ignored the anti-Hispanic and anti-Islamic intolerance of his Republican Party. He ignored the “fake news” continually coming from Trump himself.

Trump’s bizarre statements about not paying taxes, fraudulent business practices, denying climate change science, hounding Hillary after the election, pervasive conflicts of interest and coziness with dictators such as Putin are ignored by Zane.

Then perversely he ended with “Let’s hope he (Trump) exceeds expectations. If he doesn’t, four years is not an eternity.” Even Zane apparently sees all the ignorance of Trump’s campaign and the price we Americans will pay for Trump’s empty/dangerous promises.

The most we can hope for is that Trump “conned” Zane and other right-wing true fanatics. He may listen to the wise council of knowledgeable people and not the crazy industry lobbyists he’s working with now.
