Joyce Rothchild: Being different not always bad

In response to letters and editorials about Dr. Suzanne Barakat’s TED talk of anti-Muslim feelings: I fully understand how she and many Muslim people feel. More people have been killed in this country by Americans who are often white and often Christian, more than all the people who died at the hands of Muslims, including the deaths on 9/11, and we’re not talking about fearing Christianity.

We need to stop making being different equal to being bad and start examining what America should really mean for everyone.
