Bill Anderson: Government integrity gone

Regarding the Dec. 15 news article “Lawmakers look to limit Cooper’s power as governor”: What would Donald Trump do if Congress passed new legislation right before he took office which took away his authority to choose his own cabinet members without receiving their prior approval? And, on top of that, his 1,500 appointments to government positions were reduced to 300?

Well, this scenario is not reality TV, these are real world politics in North Carolina. I think it is safe to say President-elect Trump would not be happy with these restrictions on his ability to govern.

I always believed democracy was intended to be a participatory form of government. But in December 2016 it appears in North Carolina we may only participate if we are in the majority party.

Why are Sen. Phil Berger and the GOP so afraid of Gov.-elect Roy Cooper? This power grab is unprecedented and incredulous. What happened to decency and integrity in our state government?
