Mark Rose: Public schools are not religious institutions

In regard to the Dec. 19 letter “Atheist group bullied Wake County”: The letter writer decried an order blocking the participation of public school choirs in a nativity event.

Though someone would think it obvious, I must point out that public schools are exactly that, public. They are established by the government to serve all children of any faith or none, regardless. They are not religious institutions and should not be used as such.

If someone wants their children to sing in a choir at this event, join a church choir that is participating and have a Merry Christmas.
