George Nettles: Extremes taxing North Carolina

It was fantastic to read the March 1 Sunday Forum letters about taxes. I had been stewing all week after receiving my N.C. taxes back from my CPA.

As a conservative, I now feel perplexed about our Republicans. Like President Reagan did in reducing taxes, he got rid of many deductions!

Born in 1935, I have seen the worst and best of both political parties. Being an Independent seems to fit many Americans.

I have often associated Democrats with a tax-and-spend policy. Now I think the Republicans are looking like a reverse Robin Hood.

Lord help us from both extremes in Raleigh and Washington.
