C.H. Wellons: Learning from experience

I cast my first vote in a presidential election for George McGovern, who was defeated by Richard Nixon, who was eventually forced from office after his role in the Watergate scandal was revealed. It was for me a “teachable moment” in American political history, among others always looming on the horizon.

Perhaps Winston Churchill best summed it up when he said, “Americans always do the right thing, after they have tried everything else.”
