Cheryl Procner: GOP ignored seniors

Because of the new tax laws passed by our legislature, I had to pay the state government $689 this year. Last year I received a refund of $978. Just how does this new law benefit senior citizens as myself?

I am 73 years old and am blessed with excellent health and a part-time job that pays me a professional wage. What of the other seniors in poor health who are living solely on Social Security and cannot afford to pay their North Carolina taxes this year? I feel bad for all of them and will remember this come next voting season.

I will not be voting these people back into office because they are oblivious to the needs of seniors or perhaps they just don’t care about anything but furthering their Republican agenda. Shame on them!
