Donna Hamilton: Real purpose of religion

We are all rightfully outraged at the blatant and hateful racism shown by some SAE fraternity members at the University of Oklahoma.

Shouldn’t we be equally outraged at the blatant and hateful bias shown by members of our own General Assembly toward gay marriage?

As Americans, we are supposed to believe in equal rights regardless of race, gender and sexual orientation. At least the SAE members did not compound their evil by trying to justify it through religion.

Religion is about glorifying God, not making excuses for prejudice and denying civil rights.
