Victor Mallenbaum: Netanyahu and war
In the March 18 letter “Reflection on us,” the writer wondered how Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could purposely bomb a “school building with innocent children in it, because there is some evidence that there are weapons being stored there.” He believed Netanyahu is a terrible leader and should not be listened to.
Churchill was in that position before World War II. The letter-writer may not know that Netanyahu, over the years, made no response to the literally thousands of rockets shot into Israel from Gaza. This can be documented. The schoolchildren cannot.
That seems to indicate a leader who does not want war. He does not wonder how Hamas could store weapons knowing Israel must destroy them in mosques, hospitals and schools.
He should realize that Israel was using its weapons to protect her people. Hamas was using its people to protect its weapons. Hopefully, the facts will help.
