Joyce Rothchild: Tax twists
Regarding the March 24 news article “Tax revenue shuffle officially on the table”: I find it very interesting that Senate Majority Leader Harry Brown thinks that redistributing sales tax revenue to rural counties from the wealthier ones is “one of the most important bills we’ll see this season.”
How would that redistribution be different from income taxes from the wealthy being shifted to lower and middle class North Carolinians for education, medical and other social needs? There is no rush or sense of importance to help that segment of society.
Perhaps it’s because so many of our Republican-controlled members of government are from those rural counties and have poorer relatives still living there.
