Richard C. Little: High-end beneficiaries

I sincerely hope the legislature won’t cut my taxes any more as I shudder to think what its largesse will cost this time. This is not an ungrounded fear.

Its last round of tax cuts resulted in my 2014 income tax liability increasing almost 400 percent over 2013 despite having slightly less income along with some of those pesky medical expenses that old people tend to accumulate.

At the same time, legislators appear to be at a loss to say where they will cut to make up the lost revenue. My guess will be those programs that traditionally favor the wealthy like Medicaid, education and social services.

Their actions are meanspirited on their face. Do they also have to insult our intelligence by pretending that this will benefit anyone but high-end taxpayers?
