Edie Szyperski: Christian martyrs

Regarding the April 6 news article “Kenyan official’s son was killer”: The blood of the 148 Kenyan Christians cries out and pierces our world as we see once again a terrorist attack targeting people of faith.

We have now seen despicable terrorist groups such as Al-Shabaab in Kenya, Boko Haram in Nigeria, ISIS in the Middle East, and al-Qaida moving globally with Christian martyrs left in their trail.

How many churches must be burned, masses of people driven from their homes and innocent men, women and children slaughtered before the world will take notice and say never again?

The 2nd century church Father Tertullian wrote, “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.”

These brutal terrorist attempts to silence the Christian faith will never succeed. Must these crimes be in our own backyard in order for something to be done?
