Jarles Alberg: A shining GOP example
Ever since the balance of power shifted from Democrats to Republicans, the Republicans have been acting like selfish children, taking revenge on everyone and everything because they were slighted for so long politically.
Reading that they now embrace solar energy (“GOP bill pushes for solar expansion,” April 8 news article) is encouraging to me because their revered Ronald Reagan single-handedly destroyed America’s solar energy program in the 1970s.
Is it possible the Republicans are coming to their senses and actually looking at the world from a middle ground? We residents beg Republicans to become more gracious, forgiving and forward thinking, instead of being against anything done by a Democrat.
Things are changing so quickly that as a society we, and those who govern us, need to be open to thoughtful dialogue. Our melting pot contains so many different cultures and ways of life that the governing Republican majority ought to concentrate on promoting freedom of expression, not controlling expression, and governing in a multi-view, positive manner, inclusive of all Americans.
America’s basic governmental need is to limit government from controlling our every thought and deed, yet protect our ability to enjoy quality basic necessities of life.
