Gene Farrelly: A disguised Sharia law
A woman walks into a Raleigh pizza shop, but the owner is a Muslim and refuses to serve her because she is not wearing a hijab. She then crosses the street to buy a female contraceptive, but the pharmacist refuses to sell her one because he is Catholic. Crossing back over that same street, she is hit by a car and needs an on-site blood transfusion, but the EMT refuses to give her one because he is a Jehovah’s Witness.
A black American walks into a restaurant, but the owner refuses to serve him because that restaurateur is a fundamentalist Christian who believes in the Curse of Ham and the supposed biblical separation of the races. And America has come full cycle. Bring back the separate water fountains.
It is no wonder that Mahatma Gandhi reportedly once said: “I like your Christ. I don’t like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” True. Today’s American Christians practice Sharia law and have the chutzpah to call it the Religious Freedom Restoration Act!
And with no sense of irony, they applauded when North Carolina passed a bill outlawing Sharia law.
If the second coming happens tomorrow, Christ will nod in agreement with Gandhi.
