In the ongoing discourse involving religious belief as it affects decisions about providing business or legal (marriage) services for those some feel have “objectionable” lifestyles, many concerns are expressed by those identifying themselves as Christians. References are often made to biblical teachings as their source of direction.
My understanding is that Christians typically give credence to the teachings of Jesus Christ, from whose name the term Christian is derived. Would this not imply that Christians seek to follow the example set by Jesus during his time on earth?
In that light, do Christians contemplate the question: What would Jesus say and teach about this issue? With the company he kept and the acts he performed during his days on earth, did Jesus not demonstrate that all people were to be loved and treated equally, without exception? Cannot examples be found in the New Testament of the Bible?
