Walter Kauffmann: SEANC committee also at fault
Regarding the April 12 news article “SEANC audit: $500K misspent”: The audit conducted by Bond and Beebe proves that the SEANC executive committee and Dana Cope both mishandled their jobs at the State Employees Association of North Carolina.
How could the executive committee state that it conducted a thorough review and found no misappropriation of funds or for that manner any improprieties by Cope? To make matters worse, they renegotiated a contract that gave Cope sweeping powers to run things as he saw fit.
This is a classic case of sticking their head in a hole and hoping that things will get better. Cope and the entire 11-member committee should face jail time.
