Ellen Canavan: McCrory’s unspecified drilling friends

Regarding the April 16 news article “McCrory criticizes 50-mile offshore drilling buffer”: Once again Gov. Pat McCrory sounded curiously uninformed when he pushed back against efforts by the Feds to protect our coastline and marine life with a buffer zone of 50 miles for potential offshore drilling. It is not only people in coastal towns who object.

He said the people of North Carolina support drilling. Does he have any basis in reality for that statement? Or by “people of North Carolina” does he mean his friends in the oil and gas industry?

It’d be nice if he could wrap his mind around wind and solar and talk to his buddies at Duke Energy about that.
