Greg Zeph: Remember Lincoln, too

Why is it that we pore through articles this month written about the 150-year anniversary remembrances of the battles of Bentonville, Morrisville and the troops occupying Raleigh and then marching to surrender at the Bennett House, but we cannot recognize the importance of the 150 years since the assassination of our great 16th president, Abraham Lincoln?

On my trip to Washington, D.C., last year we toured the Ford’s Theater murder scene and traced the escape route of Booth through Maryland; both fascinating stories that should be covered on any 150-year timeline of this great and tragic war.
