Vanessa Brown: No tax break for seniors
I take issue with Rob Christensen’s April 19 column “The truth about income taxes.” Christensen contended that the North Carolina legislature passed significant tax breaks. I agree with his statement that we always complain about taxes, a tenet upon which this country was founded.
However, as a volunteer for VITA, I know the 2014 tax year saw considerable increases in the amount of taxes owed to North Carolina by indigent and senior citizens, those people who can ill afford it.
Again, it appears that the government panders to the “1 percent” with the burden falling on the remainder.
