Marianne Allen: Treat fetus with respect

Regarding the May 4 letter “Don’t need parenting”: It amazes me that people who are not in favor of House Bill 465 are so hypocritical. Most of the abortions performed are not in any way having to do with expense or the health of the mother. Look at the statistics. Abortion is used as a form of birth control.

This bill is not for those women whose life is in danger. How can we compare having an abortion to having cancer? One you choose. One you don’t. The key word here is choose.

Those lives that are being destroyed didn’t ask to be there. It was the parents’ choice to get pregnant. This is not a religious issue.

There are many people out there who would love to have children but cannot. Maybe with a few more days to think about it, a woman may “choose” to give her child to someone who will love it and take good care of it.

The fetus is a living thing. Please treat it with respect.
