Sherre Walstad: WCPSS didn’t listen

Referring to the May 3 news article “Parents call for removal of Lead Mine principal”: The serious situation at Lead Mine Elementary School was preventable as was the need for a petition.

The WCPSS administration placed a marginal principal at Lead Mine without close supervision. Beginning in January many individual parents repeatedly requested a meeting with the superintendent and/or area superintendent. They were individually denied any meetings. No exchange of information and concerns ever took place.

Where does a parent or, for that matter, a student go with any issues that a school principal cannot or will not address? Does the huge size of WCPSS make individuals not have a voice? Who serves the needs of WCPSS parents, students, staff, volunteers or community?

Does WCPSS administration just not care about issues or about the problems of individual schools?
