Georgie F. Brizendine: Police lives matter, too

Recently, one police officer was killed in New York and another in Chicago. More recently, two officers were killed in Hattiesburg, Miss. None of these stories made the front page but were relegated to pages where they could easily be overlooked.

No one seems to care about the killing of police officers, but can anyone imagine what life would be like without their presence? We saw what happened in Baltimore and Ferguson, Mo., even though the police were present.

It is past time for the public to stand up and demand harsh punishments for those who murder our police. Even Al Capone and his kind did not stoop to the killing of policemen and women.
