Kenneth Andrews: Two brake lights needed

Regarding the May 13 news article “Bill requiring 2 brake lights approved”: It sometimes makes me wonder what our elected officials are thinking. Apparently Rep. Joe Sam Queen and Rep. Michele Presnell have other concerns and not the safety of the general public in mind.

Common sense tells me that the reason for two tail lights is so that if one goes out, a vehicle still has one tail light working. Having no tail lights is a real safety hazard, especially at night.

Vehicle lights serve a purpose to protect other vehicles on the road and should not be a light show for the holidays.
