James Joslin: Bonds will fund Dix park
The State of North Carolina agreed to sell the Dix property to the City of Raleigh for $52 million. The city will have to issue bonds to finance this destination park. The real estate will cost each Raleigh resident about $120.
When it comes time, I hope everyone will vote for the bonds to secure the transfer. The opportunities of this park and its potential legacy would make Frederick Law Olmsted (Central Park’s co-visionary and father of American landscape architecture) leap for joy.
Let’s make it happen Raleigh. It’s a real opportunity.
