Andrew Dobelstein: Values to live by
Maybe it is true, as David Brooks wrote in the May 3 column “The nature of poverty,” that if the poor had “the norms that middle-class people take for granted” they would escape poverty, but maybe if the rich lived by the same values, people wouldn’t be poor in the first place.
