Chuck Mann: Confederate flags

Regarding the May 7 news article “Group protests Gettysburg photo”: A lot of people think that the students who posed with a Confederate battle flag on Instagram should be punished.

As a fan of classic rock, I have a Lynyrd Skynyrd album that has a Confederate flag on the cover. Should all of their songs be banned from radio and movies, or do they get a pass? When I was a kid, I considered NASCAR to be a racist sport because I always saw Confederate flags waving during the races. Should NASCAR be banned? That would be hard to do since NASCAR is the official sport of our state.

This is an opportunity for “the South” to have a discussion about the Confederate battle flag.
