Pat Horan: New computers needed at schools
Regarding the May 15 news article “House, McCrory diverge on budget”: $74.3 million for K-12 public school textbooks and only $21 million to establish broadband access?
Had North Carolina’s representatives bothered to ask teachers, they would have discovered that most teachers don’t use textbooks anymore and instead rely on the Internet for superior, up-to-date instructional materials.
What teachers need are new classroom computers, more student access and replacements for the few currently available classroom computers that are often so old they don’t work.
