Wayne Muller: Shaking his head
As I read the May 20 news story “Selma teen in kilt denied entry to prom” about the young man denied entry into his so-called Christian prom because he was wearing his grandfather’s kilt, I could not help but think of all the funerals I have recently attended for our brave military men and women.
During most services, a kilted bagpipe player appears, usually playing “Amazing Grace.” This is normally the time when the tissues come out. It is a solemn event.
I’ve said it for years, my Creator has nothing to do with Christianity, as I find the word Christianity synonymous with hypocrisy. I have no doubt that the Creator of all living things is shaking his head.
This situation reminds me of when I was a young boy. My mother was denied entry into a Catholic Church in New Jersey because she did not have the required 25 cents “seat money.”
You just gotta love Christianity. David Leix should wear his kilt proudly.
