George W. Carter: Legislators for rent
Regarding the May 21 news article “Donor withholds $25,000 from GOP”: I can’t decide what offends me more about Bob Luddy’s decision to “withhold $25,000 from GOP.”
Is it his utter arrogance at supposing that $25,000 should buy what he wants versus providing for a entire constituency or his hypocrisy in claiming that “if there is anything that really upsets me, it’s special interest” while bullying for public money to fund his own special interest in private charter schools? Or maybe it’s House Speaker Tim Moore’s public and tactical capitulation, saying “once the budget plays out folks who have supported us will continue to do so,” meaning don’t worry, Bob, we are only making noise for the voters, his interests are ours?
There is another name that comes to mind for people who render service for pay, and it isn’t legislator.
