Cheryl Bell: Duke right in distancing from Hough

Regarding the May 16 news article “Duke professor’s remarks bring ire”: Hats off to Duke! Residents in the Raleigh-Durham area appreciate its swift and clear rebuttal to the comments by Duke professor Jerry Hough.

By stating he was a Duke professor, he was no longer speaking on his own behalf, but inferring he was speaking as a professor from Duke University.

We do not want our region to be represented with these kinds of racist rants.
