Donna Hamilton: Magistrates need to adapt
Consider the following scenario: A young man works as a waiter. He is a staunch Baptist, opposed to alcohol consumption on religious grounds. His manager decides to start serving alcohol in the restaurant. Does the young man tell his boss he will serve only half of his customers? Of course not. He either adapts to his new work environment or seeks other employment.
Why should magistrates be any different? Are they somehow better than everyone else?
