Regarding the May 31 news article “Vet’s call for help leads to arrest”: I was stupefied as I read the account of Ryan Broderick, an American veteran who reached out to an apparently ungrateful nation for help and received instead a prison cell.
In a world where most problems are so complex as to be nearly unsolvable, the injustice that has been done to Broderick could be solved today, and he could be on his way to improved mental health, if only the systems in place were functioning properly.
Sens. Thom Tillis and Richard Burr and Gov. Pat McCrory need to take notice that one of their constituents is in peril and bring to bear the power of their positions to right this wrong.
