In his June 14 letter “Study gun risks/benefits,” professor David Warren posed questions related to firearms legislation. He questioned why we do not analyze the risk vs. benefit of gun ownership and why we do not even use what we do know to formulate “effective firearms legislation.” And he was puzzled by the fact that our legislators ignore the wishes of the majority of residents who are in favor of sensible gun regulations.
I think the answer lies in the problem that affects much of our legislation. The answer? Follow the money.
