Partha B. Howell: State employees’ duties
After reading the June 12 news article “N.C. officials now free to avoid gay marriages,” I am once again saddened by what has happened in my home state.
As a retired, 30-year career state employee, I served, and was proud to do so, all the residents of North Carolina. It’s called carrying out the duties of the job we were hired to perform.
However, now certain state or county employees will get to pick and choose which residents of North Carolina they will serve. Yes, a sad day once again in the “Old North State.”
