Mary Sibrack: Voter ID improvement

Regarding the June 24 Point of View “The cave-in on voter ID”: Here’s hoping that the amended Voter Identification Verification Act will deliver us from the challenges to democracy posed by VIVA and, perhaps more important, get our legislators back to their promises of improving jobs, education, infrastructure, health care and the state of North Carolina.

The integrity of voting and the entire well-being of our state are far better served by healthy, employed citizens who can participate in the political process than by wasting enormous resources trying to disenfranchise some of our citizens.
