James Scatliff: All at fault at UNC
Regarding Morgan Randall’s June 27 letter “UNC players not at fault in scandal”: I am writing to express my disappointment in my fellow physician’s letter. Randall indicated that students shouldn’t be faulted for taking the UNC paper classes.
There is exceeding pressure on our athletes to spend considerable time on the practice field or floor or in weight-training rooms. There is great fan support for winning teams at UNC including my own.
However, a university is a place for learning whether it’s medicine, law, business, history, art, music or the many avenues that help students understand and go forward in our world. It’s not just an off-tackle play.
Our administrators, teachers, coaches and students should see that education is going on well and with meaning.
