Trudy Chappell Conrad: Remembering FDR

Jim Jenkins has done it again with his June 18 column “Paying respects to Mr. Roosevelt.”

The column took me all the way back to upper elementary school days. When I heard on the radio that President Roosevelt had died, I vividly recall going to my room, curling up in a chair and crying quietly. FDR was the only president I had ever known.

I was moved to tears once more by the timelessness of the words and greatness of the man.
