Barb Goldstein: Liberty expanded

Regarding the June 27 news article “U.S. Supreme Court extends gay marriage nationwide”: What a glorious decision on same-sex marriage handed down by the Supreme Court!

Yet I agree with a statement from Justice Clarence Thomas that the framers of our constitution would not have recognized this “liberty.” They also would not have recognized women owning property, women in Congress, a woman running for president or a vast number of professional endeavors undertaken by women in today’s society.

It is no threat to anyone’s religious liberty that I can finally legally refer to “my wife” in all 50 states. Bravo to the Supreme Court!
